WHAT’S NEW
Version 6.0.3:
The main volume slider in SoundSource’s alternate menu (accessed by Control-clicking the SoundSource menu bar icon) now allows for muting, by clicking the speaker icon.

All sliders now revert to their default value when the associated readout is double-clicked. This restores behavior previously found in SoundSource 5.

Contrast has been improved when MacOS's “Increased Contrast” setting is enabled.

Optimizations have been made to reduce SoundSource’s CPU usage and improve startup speed. Improvements include faster locating of applications, as well as quashing a stray animation in the Audio Devices window.

Several rare crashes have been eliminated, fixing issues launching when loading a bad configuration, changing configurations, switching between Light and Dark modes, and navigating menus.

AirPlay devices now reconnect more reliably after the Mac wakes from sleep. Device scanning has been made more robust by increasing the default discovery timeout, improving reliability when devices are slow to appear after system wake.

The device hiding feature, found in the “Audio Devices” window, now works fully with Input/Output devices.

Modifications to an Audio Unit's generic parameters now always correctly result in audible changes to audio.

Adjustments to keyboard shortcuts are now stored immediately, rather than at quit.

Keyboard entry once again works as expected with sliders in the 10-Band EQ, as well as generic Audio Unit views.

The Command + E shortcut once again moves selection to a selected item’s Effects list. This restores behavior previously found in SoundSource 5.

Improvements have been made to using Tab (and Shift-Tab) to navigate around SoundSource, correcting issues where Shift-Tab could fail to work as expected.

Devices with duplicate names now have numbered suffixes appended to them.

The order of favorited applications is now always correctly remembered across quick configs.

Adjustment of the Balance and Pan slider via the arrow keys is now consistent.

Several memory leaks have been found and plugged, including one related to rapid device changes.

SoundSource’s popover windows now correctly respect the Mac’s Accessibility API, allowing them to be repositioned by other applications.

A variety of undo-related improvements have been made, including reduced memory usage, improved grouping reliability, and limits on undo stack growth.

When entering text in the preset name field, a “z” character could incorrectly being interpreted as an Undo command, despite the Command modifier not being pressed. We’ve undone that bug.

Audio Unit UI rendering across processes has been improved, providing a much smoother experience when modifying parameters in effects like SonarWorks “SoundID”, Steven Slate’s “Fresh Air”, and MeterPlug’s “Dynameter 2”.
 
A vast assortment of interface inconsistencies and drawing issues have been corrected:
• In Light Mode, the effects of the “Max Volume” setting are now more visible on the volume slider in the main window.
• The cross-hatched appearance once again shows on the Input level meter when the input device is not being actively monitored.
• Pinned plug-in windows once again show an active appearance at all times, matching SoundSource 5.
• SoundSource’s menu highlight colors now look correct when the system theme is set to the graphite accent.
• The system's AirPlay picker window will no longer incorrectly flash on screen when changing spaces.
• The Permissions window is no longer hidden when SoundSource is moved to the background.
• The ARK plugin re-installer window can no longer become hidden and inaccessible.
• A display bug where SoundSource could appear barely visible, while still accepting mouse clicks, has been quashed.
• The “Filter” field in the Effects menu no longer incorrectly dims, nor incorrectly loses focus.
• A bug where SoundSources window could appear to resize itself vertically in a loop has been corrected.
• A rare bug which caused scrolling in the main window to fail unexpectedly has been fixed.
• Disclosure sections in the Headphone EQ profile navigator no longer incorrectly require two clicks to show or hide.
• Clicking on the checkmark button to confirm edits now always works as expected. As well, clicking away from an edit now saves the edit, rather than ignoring it.
• User-defined window heights for SoundSource’s main window are now correctly maintained across launches. As well, the main window size is retained when the mindow moves between displays.
• Previously, when a new Favorite was added, its Options menu lacked settings for keyboard shortcuts until SoundSource was relaunched. Now, they’re always present and accounted for.
• In the past, dragging and dropping to re-order sources or effects could fail, depending on the location of the drop. It will now always work as expected.
• An incompatibility with SoundSource's handling of mouse events, which could cause sliders in Apple Audio Units effects to behave oddly, has been corrected.
• Animations for volume adjustments made when changing Quick Configs have been improved.
• Mouse drags when clicking the Options (Gear) menu, as well as other buttons, no longer incorrectly move the main window on Tahoe.
• Multiple items can no longer incorrectly appear highlighted in the secondary menu (accessed by control-clicking the SoundSource icon in the menu bar).
• Multi-selection state in the preset manager for effects is now preserved correctly.
• Secondary windows, like Settings, and Audio Devices now activate correctly when shown from the menu bar.
• Popover windows no longer incorrectly take keyboard focus when shown while SoundSource is inactive; they now simply move to the front.
• Custom preset icons now display with correct sizing in Shortcuts.app.
• The “Bypass Effects” keyboard shortcut (Option-Command-B) shown in the Options popover now displays in a more proper gray, rather than stark black.
• Headers in the “Add Favorite” menu now have the same styling as all other menus found in SoundSource.
 
Several VoiceOver improvements have been made, including:
• A slider could incorrectly be read out by VoiceOver when navigating the output volume section in the Audio Devices window. No more!
• VoiceOver readings for items in each source now include the source's name in their label for faster orientation.
• Duplicate readings have been abolished.
• An alert is no longer shown to VoiceOver users when muting via the keyboard. This now matches both SoundSource 5 and MacOS system behavior.
• Assorted text labels have been reviewed and corrected.
• Notifications shown when a settings change is blocked now better support VoiceOver.
